Excerpt

“It’s A Wonderful Tangle Christmas Carol” by Emma Chase in Baby, It’s Cold Outside

I shut the door to our apartment and toss the mail down on the front hall table—mostly last-minute Christmas cards. Nothing says “you were an afterthought” like getting a Christmas card on Christmas Eve. I hang up my

black wool coat and slide the shopping bag with Kate’s new shoes under the table, to be wrapped later.

Unlike me, Kate is good about waiting. She likes to be surprised, so I don’t have to put in the extra effort of

hiding her gifts to keep her from sneaking a peek.

I walk into the living room—and stop dead in my tracks. I was planning on going home only for a few minutes, to let Kate know I’d be at the office the rest of the evening. But those plans get tossed out the window.

Because reclining in the chaise longue is a gift that beats the hell out of anything I’ve ever seen sitting under

a tree.

My wife, Kate Brooks-Evans.

Kate Brooks-Evans in lingerie.

Kate Brooks-Evans in see-through, Christmas-themed lingerie.

Her smooth legs are crossed at the ankle, bare except for the spiky heeled, shiny black boots that end below her knees. A sheer red nightie, trimmed in fluffy white fur, covers tiny red panties—held together by two silk bows tied at her hips. A shiny black belt cinches her flat stomach, and more white fur embellishes the strapless

neckline, bringing my attention to her perfect breasts and pink nipples pressing against the gauzy fabric. Kate’s

luscious dark hair falls over her shoulders, curled at the ends, and a fleecy red-and-white Santa hat sits on top of her head.

She smiles mischievously. “Welcome home, Santa.”

“Mrs. Claus,” I smirk, “you’ve changed.”

Cristina Reviews Doghouse by L.A. Kornetsky

Doghouse cover complete

Cristina’s Review

I will start by confessing that I am an animal lover, plus, a volunteer with an animal rescue in my city.  When Doghouse by L.A. Koernetsky crossed my path I was excited when I read what it was about.  Everything I liked in one story! One of my favorite genres mixed with passion for cats and dogs! I was not disappointed.  This book really is a “good bone to chew”! You do not need to have read the previous books to enjoy this latest book in the series. Although you will probably want to when you are done! That’s what’s happened to me. The characters hook you from the moment you start reading. You meet two amateur detectives, Toni Tonica and Ginny Mallard, amateur detectives who mix their wits and charm to find the truth behind the rumor, or was it true? (I’ll leave it to you to find out!) Both have the indirect help of their pets, Georgie, a sharpie and Penny, a cat. The plot kept me intrigued and I now I can’t wait to read the other two books in the Gin & Tonic mystery series.

I give this book 5 Woofs!

Be sure to add this book/series to your TBR list today!

Praise for the third Gin & Tonic Mystery, Doghouse:

“Infamously nosy Ginny Mallard may be unlicensed as an investigator, but she has begun to make a name for herself as the unofficial champion of the tongue-tied.  In the third installment of L.A. Kornetsky’s Gin & Tonic Mystery series, Doghouse finds Ginny getting herself tied up in a possible underground dogfighting ring.  With help from her bartender friend Teddy Tonica, his tabby cat and Ginny’s Shar Pei puppy, they have to figure out what’s going on before someone else gets hurt.”

—Cat Fancy Magazine, November 2014 issue

“Human and animal characters are equally appealing.  A thoroughly enjoyable read.”  I Love a Mystery

Doghouse is a crafty mystery with engaging characters and countless unknowns…L.A. Kornetsky makes mysteries inventively delightful, and Doghouse entertains with wit and cleverness.”  Single Titles

“I recommend it to those that really like animals and cozy mysteries.”  Books and Things

“The third Gin & Tonic “researchtigations” is an appealing anthropomorphist amateur sleuth enhanced by life in a cheerful neighborhood bar. The lead humans and their animal owners remain fresh leads while the case proves bloody in the ring and the bar.”  The Mystery Gazette

“Sniffing out clues…L.A. Kornetsky brings back Ginny Mallard and her bartender friend Teddy Tonica, along with Ginny’s pet shar-pei puppy and Teddy’s tabby cat, for their third outing in Doghouse.”  Library Journal

Praise for the second Gin & Tonic Mystery, Fixed:

“[Fixed] is the second foray into the lives of a very unlikely pair of investigators; unlikely and a whole lot of fun…Collared was the first title that introduced this extremely fun ‘family and friends’ grouping, and the author has come back with a sequel that will truly make Gin & Tonic a well-known duo! Very light-hearted, this is a great book. Any reader who likes the ‘cozy’ avenue will love this mystery, with a little bit of cat and dog language thrown in for fun.”  Suspense Magazine

Praise for the first Gin & Tonic Mystery, Collared:

“The plot moves quickly, enhanced by smart dialog and good characterizations…Recommended for purchase where pet mysteries are popular.”  Library Journal

Summary of Doghouse:

Amateur sleuths Ginny Mallard and Teddy Tonica and their furry partners prove in L.A. Kornetsky’s DOGHOUSE (Pocket Books; July 22, 2014; $7.99) that twelve legs are better than four when it comes to solving a risky new case in the third novel from the “entertaining” (Library Journal) Gin & Tonic mystery series.  At her favorite Seattle bar, professional concierge Ginny Mallard can always count on a perfectly mixed gimlet and a friendly welcome for her shar-pei, Georgie, from resident cat, Penny.  On this visit, Ginny gets an unexpected bonus.  One of the regulars asks her and her sometime partner, bartender Teddy Tonica, to save an old friend who’s facing eviction.  This is no simple landlord spat.  Rumors abound of an underground dogfighting ring on the premises—a crime guaranteed to get Gin’s hackles up. Gin and Teddy want to believe the old man is innocent of all charges, thought a new piece of evidence suggests otherwise.  Penny and Georgie keep their noses to the ground as they help their humans investigate the vicious animal rights case.  But the truth is buried deep, and digging it up will unearth dangerous complications for owners and animals alike.

About the Author:

L.A. Kornetsky is the author of two previous Gin & Tonic mysteries.  She lives in New York City with two cats and a time-share dog, and also writes fantasy under the name Laura Anne Gilman.  She welcomes visitors to www.lauraannegilman.net, @LAGilman and Facebook: L-A-Kornetsky.

The low groan on the first floor roused Corrado from sleep. His eyes snapped open, suddenly alert, as the relentless noise seemed to echo through the house. A window. He often slept with them open a crack to let the air circulate, but someone shoved one open the whole way.

His heart thumped wildly in his chest as he reached onto his bedside stand and grabbed his gun. He habitually checked it, ensuring it was still loaded, and jumped out of bed. There was no time to waste getting dressed; he crept down the hallway in his plaid boxers, his bare feet lightly touching the floor, making not a sound.

The second he made it downstairs, a breeze struck him from the living room. A few steps later he appeared in the doorway, pointing his gun at the form halfway through the window. He flipped off the safety as his finger lightly touched the trigger. Two seconds. Two seconds were all it would take to blow them away.

A pair of wide brown eyes instantly met Corrado’s. “Whoa, there, big guy.”

Just as fast as he’d aimed, prepared to kill whoever was breaking into his house, he lowered the gun. “Dammit, Celia!”

“Nice to see you, too.” She swung both legs inside but remained perched on the windowsill. “You weren’t really going to shoot me, were you?”

“Yes,” he said, no hesitation. “I was.”

“Well, I’m lucky you didn’t.”

“Lucky?” Corrado stared at her with disbelief. “I would’ve shot you, Celia. Two more seconds and I would’ve killed you. And then your father… your father would’ve killed me.”

“Yeah, he probably would’ve.”

“There’s no probably about it. He would’ve mutilated me. You… you wouldn’t have felt a thing. But me…” He shuddered just thinking about it. “What are you doing here? Are you in some kind of trouble?”

“I wanted to talk to you.”

Corrado gaped at her. “You broke into my house to talk?”

“Well, I would’ve called, but I don’t have your number.” Celia stood and strolled around the darkened living room, glancing at his belongings. “Besides, something tells me you’re not the talking-on-the-phone type.”

Two Novellas will also be available on October 27th. They will be free eBooks.  I can’t wait to read these!

Susi Reviews Tied by Emma Chase-Release Day @EmmaChse

Tied (Tangled #4) by Emma Chase is out today!  Have you gotten your copy yet?

It is frigging amazing!

Read my 5 star review below.

tied cover

In the fourth sexy romance by the New York Times bestselling author of Tangled and Twisted, Drew and Kate can’t wait to tie the knot—if they can survive the pre-wedding festivities.

For most of my life, I never imagined I’d get married. But Kate did the impossible: she changed me. I think we can all agree I was pretty frigging awesome before, but now I’m even better.

The road to this day wasn’t all rainbows and boners. There were mistakes and misunderstandings worthy of a Greek tragedy. But Kate and I made it through with our inexhaustible lust, boundless admiration, and everlasting love for one another intact.

That being said, there were some unexpected incidents in Vegas last weekend that could have been a problem. It was kind of… my final test.

I know what you’re thinking—what the hell did you do this time? Relax. Let’s not judge, or call for my castration, until you’ve heard the whole story.

And hold on tight, because you’re in for a wild ride. Did you expect anything less?

My 5 star Review

5 stars

Reading Tied was a bittersweet experience for me.  I was excited to read the final book in this series but sad to see it come to an end.  I feel like I have known these amazing characters for years.  Emma’s brilliant writing brought them to life in an unforgettable way.  Reading this series, and listening to several of the books on audio has been an amazing journey.

Tied is written in Drew’s point of view and I must say that is the best way to end this series.  What started with Drew, a character I truly adore ends with him in total Drew Evans style.

groom drew pic quote

In Tied, Drew and Kate are finally getting married.  Their baby James has grown into an adorable toddler.   All of their close friends and family are back too, making their own appearances keeping this story light, entertaining and complete.

Drew shows off his parenting skills, “Drew style” of course.  Some of my favorite moments are those with Drew and his baby boy.  Their father son conversations were awesome and had me laughing and smiling from ear to ear. Remember, we’re talking Drew here.  You can only imagine the conversations he has with his son.  After all, his uncle/niece conversations with Mackenzie in previous books were pretty funny too.

tied pic quote 1 baby

So what’s a wedding without a proper Bachelor/Bachelorette party/send off for the bride and groom?  Well, Kate, Drew and the gang are off to Vegas for that last weekend before tying the knot. Their trip to Vegas turns out to be one funny and interesting experience.  Oh…and the unexpected happens in Vegas too. (no spoilers here). Kate, proves to be quite a tough cookie.  Did I mention that Billy Warren goes along with them on their trip?  Yes, Kate’s ex, that Billy Warren, joins in on the Vegas adventure too.  Drew and Billy’s Vegas bonding experience was another one of my favorite parts of this book.

“See this ring? It means I belong to him.  And the tattoo of my name on his arm means he belongs to me. All of him. His dick is a compass, and I’m due north- it only points to me.”

“Now, young Skywalker, your training is complete. Tonight-you become a Jedi.”

While the wedding is the main focus of this book, each character has their own little story in this book.  Alexandra and Stephen have their own issues to deal with.  Dee Dee and Matthew have their own news.  Mackenzie is growing fast and proving that she is both the daughter of Alexandra and the niece of “The Drew Evans.”  Drew’s secretary Erin and his friend Jack join in on the fun too. All of their stories sprinkled in make this last book in a series perfect.  All of these dynamic characters play important roles in the success of this series.

“You and I are my gold standard. You’re the only reason I’m not shitting my pants about marrying Kate next week. Because you’re my proof that marriage can actually work.”

Kate and Drew’s wedding takes place in my favorite New York City Church, St. Patrick’s Cathedral.  A Perfect wedding for a perfect couple is what readers expect and Emma did not disappoint.  Some of my favorite moments in the wedding included the flower girl and ring bearer walking down the aisle.  A perfectly planned wedding is what these two get in Tied. From the vows to the reception, this wedding made me shed a few happy tears while reading.  (I cry at weddings) The wedding toast and first dances, such personal moments were flawless.  I felt all kinds of emotions reading this book.

Emma, thank you for creating such a fantastic series, one that I enjoy listening to and reading over and over.

I gave this book 5 frigging stars and highly recommend it!

EXCERPT

Ian glanced around the now empty room before speaking. “I realize I’m in no position to
judge relationships in the work place.”

Hell no, considering Ian had pursed his now-wife, Riley, brought her into the business,
and promoted her, Dylan thought.

As for Olivia … “There is no relationship.”

“But you want there to be one. And my sister isn’t cooperating. Am I right?”

When Dylan didn’t reply, Ian continued. “I saw you two in the hallway. At the party.”

Dylan blew out a long breath. “Not that I owe you an explanation but nothing happened.” He
ran a hand over his goatee, buying time.

“Bullshit. I saw the kiss.”

Dylan inclined his head. “Fine.”

He knew Ian was overprotective of his sisters. He even understood the man’s reasons. For
that reason alone, Dylan wouldn’t lose his temper now.

“Look, you’re my friend. More than that, I respect you as my boss. But whatever is or
isn’t going on with me and Olivia … that’s none of your business.”

Ian eyed him through his infamous narrowed gaze, assessing him, causing Dylan to
straighten his shoulders and meet his stare head on.

Ian cleared his throat. “My sister is tough on the outside but she’s … more fragile
inside,” he said, clearly considering his words carefully.

“Your point?” Dylan asked the other man.

“Don’t play with her head or her heart.”

Dylan inclined his head. Unknowingly, Ian had just reaffirmed that whatever kept
Olivia at arms length, it had nothing to do with business. If anything, she
felt too much or she wouldn’t have run.

“We good?” Ian asked.

“Always.”

“Then good luck in Hawaii,” Ian said, turned and walked out the door, leaving Dylan alone
to strategize his next step.

Dylan wasn’t the type to give up on something he wanted. He’d been too soft with Olivia,
giving her space, figuring she’d give in to chemistry eventually. Obviously
that wasn’t going to happen. He needed to take control and should have done it
sooner. Where better than the tropical paradise of Hawaii to make his
intentions crystal clear.

Yes they were going to Hawaii on business, but she was interested in enjoying the
island. They were staying in the same hotel and attending the same events. That
added up to opportunity and Dylan wasn’t above taking advantage if it meant
getting what he wanted. And he wanted Olivia.

Excerpt #1

I take a step to the side when the elevator chimes, stopping on the fifth floor. The doors open to the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. He’s a tall, dark brown haired angel wearing a perfectly tailored charcoal grey suit with a crisp white shirt and a grey striped tie with his hands in his pockets. His clean shaven, chiseled jawline shifts slightly when his lips curl into a sexy knowing smile, creating dimples that ignite an ache between my legs. My breath catches at the most mesmerizing set of azure blue eyes piercing into me. This man knows his eyes are capable of giving women multiple orgasms with just one look, and he’s not afraid to use them.

He steps in giving me a slight nod. “New here?” he asks, his voice silky.

I blink, realizing I’ve just been busted staring…at his mouth, his eyes, his drop dead gorgeous face. He probably thinks I’m a creep. Before I can answer, the smell of his woodsy mandarin cologne mixed with soap engulfs my body provoking succulent thoughts. It’s enticing and sexy, and I want it all over me and my sheets.

“Yes, sir,” I say on unsteady legs.

“Welcome to the company. I’m sure I’ll see you around.” He smirks as he exits the elevator, knowing damn good and well what he’s doing. The heat that spread throughout my body, I now feel on my cheeks.

I say nothing. I can’t. My poor brain can’t form words. My lungs hurt from the lack of oxygen, and my mouth is slack jawed. Dammit.

Excerpt #2

As I’m thumbing through the papers in my hands, the elevator doors slide open. Before I can even look up, I run right into a solid wall of muscle making me spill my coffee.

“Oh! I’m so sorry.” I wipe away the droplets of coffee on the blue jacket. “I didn’t mean to spill my coffee on…” When my eyes find their way up to the pleasant face of the suit’s owner, I’m mortified. Out of all the employees that work here, I’ve run into Mr. Eye Candy from the elevator yesterday. “You?” I exhale.

Excitement flickers in his blue eyes. Dimples appear from a victorious smile. My insides clench.

“I knew I needed coffee this morning,” he chuckles, not easing my embarrassment one bit.

“I really am sorry.”

He steps into the elevator, turning around with a megawatt, sexy as hell smile and a wet coffee stain, “No worries.”

I shake my head when the doors close eliminating the incredible view of him. “Seriously? That just happened.” I tell myself under my breath. Over slept, then practically scalded Mr. Eye Candy into a wet suit contest…this day cannot possibly get any worse.
