Review: The Sweetest Game by J. Sterling

sweetest game

The third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie’s epic love story is here!

“It’s one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It’s like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holidays missed, the birthdays passed, the memories you didn’t get to make with your family … all for what? It’s not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn’t stay awake for nights on end, trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn’t care. Baseball’s a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it’s time to let it go.” – Jack Carter

I am thrilled to post this double review.  Both Janessa and I loved this series written by J. Sterling and especially loved Jack F’n Carter.

Janessa Reviews: The Sweetest Game by J. Sterling

The Sweetest Game” was bittersweet, although in my opinion it was the best book out of the 3. Do not get me wrong, I loved everything about this series, the good, the bad, the ugly, but book three was about the “sweetest” happy ending for Jack Carter and his kitten Cassie and I am sad it had to end. I was so mad at Jack in the first book but throughout book 2 and especially 3 Jack really showed his worth. You see the characters grow and Jack finally decides to put others before his career, his family in particular. I loved reading about Cassie’s transition from “the girlfriend” to one of “the wives” and how her expectations completely change from book 1 to 3. She was determined to be there for Jack through thick and thin. Don’t get me started on the epilogue…it really was the cherry on top to the series. If you have yet to meet Jack F’n Carter then I suggest you get to it! This series of books definitely takes you on a roller coaster of emotions but it is worth every word. These books are about priorities and realizing what really is important in your life, but most importantly it’s about growing up and learning how to deal with the fastballs life throws your way. Literally.

My Review:

I have to agree with Janessa. The Sweetest Game was the best and the perfect ending to the story of Jack and Cassie.  I was so excited when I learned that J. Sterling had written this final book.  It was the perfect Christmas present to myself, one that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and will reread.  This series holds a special place in my heart. I was glad to see the characters grow up and continue with their lives.  It was definitely a bittersweet goodbye.  I will miss Jack F”n Carter but am glad the story ended as it did.

If you haven’t read this series, I suggest you get to it.  You must read all three books.  The Perfect Game, The Game Changer, and The Sweetest Game.

Together we gave this book 5 stars.
